Seven people died when three suicide bombers blew themselves up on Tuesday night in Sajeri, a suburb of the Nigerian city of Maiduguri.
The explosions occurred at three-minute intervals, and seven people, including the three suicide terrorists, have been confirmed dead.
Nasir Baba came face to face with the latest suicide bomber in the most recent attack on Maiduguri.
"I was sitting when the suicide bomber came shouting for help. As I was approaching him with my brother, the explosive blew up and killed seven people. I was also wounded," said Nasir Baba.
Several other people also survived with minor wounds.
Suicide attacks are becoming a routine affair in the area. Ajilari, a small village in the outskirts, has become a preferred soft target.
Last week, more than a dozen local people were killed in similar fashion.
Prior to that, insurgents killed over a hundred people in the bloodiest carnage since Nigerian President Buhari assumed office at the end of May.
Scared for what might come next, local residents are calling for more security.
"Last night, some people reported that there were some suspicious people around them. Before we could take action, the bombs started going off. We appeal to the government to deploy more security around the forest, where ... bombers ... continuously come from. We can't be left alone to defend ourselves," said Badamasi Usman, a witness.
Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram, has borne the brunt of the latest wave of attacks by the insurgents.
