A bonus at RNAS Yeovilton's 2011 Air Day was a set piece formation from two of the crowds biggest favourites. The only remaining airworthy Avro Vulcan, XH558, and the only flying De Havilland Sea Vixen, XP924, in formation together and conducting separate displays. Both of these Cold War era jet aircraft are ex military and now owned by civilian operators.
Avro Vulcan XH558 is owned and operated by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust and is currently based at Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport, previously RAF Finningly and home to operational Vulcan Squadrons.

The Sea Vixen is owned and operated by De Havilland Aviation and is based at Bournemouth International Airport.
XP924 was one of the last Sea Vixens in service. This particular aircraft entered service in 1964 as a FAW.2, seeing active service exclusively with 899 Squadron on HMS Eagle and at Yeovilton. In 1973 the Vixen went to Llanbedr to serve as a high-speed radar target with the Royal Aircraft Establishment. XP924 was subsequently converted by Flight Refuelling to D3 drone status and served further at Llanbedr in this capacity from 1986 to 1991 when it was finally withdrawn from service.
This aircraft is unique in terms of being not only the sole example of its type capable of flying, but being the sole representative of its generation of fighters likely to fly in the UK. The Vixen is the fastest ex-military jet in private ownership, and is capable of Mach 1.2.
