2-daagse wandeling door Viroinval. We vertrokken in Nismes, wandelden in noordoostelijke richting door bos en de Callestienne, om dan de Viroin over te steken vlakbij Dourbes. Na een steile klim kwamen we aan bij la Croix Sauvage en stapten zo tot in Olloy-sur-Viroin, waar we overnachtten op Camping Ardinam.
De 2de dag keerden we terug richting Nismes en stapten we voorbij een steengroeve met La Roche aux Faucons in de verte. We stapten langs een oude spoorlijn (die terug in gebruik is) om daarna bergop richting Les Abannets te wandelen. Hierna bereikten we het hoogtepunt van onze tocht, de Fondry des Chiens. Dit is een 20m diep zinkgat, ontstaan door weggespoeld kalkgesteente.
Randonnée de 2 jours à travers Viroinval. Nous avons commencé à Nismes, avons marché vers le nord-est à travers la forêt et la Callestienne, puis avons traversé le Viroin près de Dourbes. Après une montée raide nous arrivons à la Croix Sauvage et nous arrivons ainsi à Olloy-sur-Viroin, où nous passons la nuit au Camping Ardinam.
Le 2ème jour nous sommes retournés à Nismes et avons passé une carrière avec La Roche aux Faucons au loin. Nous avons longé une ancienne voie ferrée (qui est de nouveau utilisée) puis avons grimpé en direction des Abannets. Après cela, nous avons atteint le point culminant de notre voyage, le Fondry des Chiens. Il s'agit d'un gouffre de 20 m de profondeur, créé par le calcaire emporté.
2-day hike through Viroinval. We started in Nismes, walking northeast through forest and the Callestienne, then crossing the Viroin near Dourbes. After a steep climb we arrived at la Croix Sauvage and in this way got to Olloy-sur-Viroin, where we stayed overnight at Camping Ardinam.
The 2nd day we returned to Nismes and passed a quarry with La Roche aux Faucons in the distance. We walked along an old railway line (which is back in use) and then walked uphill towards Les Abannets. After this we reached the highlight of our trip, the Fondry des Chiens. This is a 20m deep sinkhole, created by washed away limestone.
