Russian President Vladimir Putin played in an ice hockey game in Sochi on Saturday (May 10) and participated in a moment of silence before the game for those who died a day earlier in violence in the eastern Ukrainian city of Mariupol, according to Russian news agency ITAR-TASS.
Players in the Night Hockey League game included amateurs like Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Shoigualong with former professional athletes. Night Hockey League was created by Putin in 2011 to keep athletes competing after they have reached age 40.
RTR television showed footage of Putin scoring a goal and the crowd cheering.
