I’ve always wanted to be a criminal defense attorney ever since I remember. And as I was growing up, my focus was always to eventually become a criminal defense attorney.
I am not intimidated by the prosecutors. Not federal, not state. And I am not, frankly, intimidated by the judges. I am fighting for my client, and that’s my job, and that’s what I will do. If, as I said, my clients at some point ask me to try to get them a deal or a plea agreement and I get those orders from my clients or requests from my clients, that’s when I’m going to do it.
My first jury trial when I left the State’s Attorney’s Office was a murder trial, which not too many young lawyers can say they experienced a year-and-a-half after leaving the State’s Attorney’s Office. And during that trial I had a few witnesses that I cross-examined. And I actually put our client on on direct examination. And that was very forceful for me.
