Charles Eugène Jules Marie Nungesser (15 March 1892 - presumably on or after 8 May 1927) was a French ace pilot and adventurer, best remembered as a rival of Charles Lindbergh. Nungesser was a renowned ace in France, rating third highest in the country for air combat victories during World War I.

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 -- 21 April 1918), widely known as the Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot with the Imperial German Army Air Service (Luftstreitkräfte) during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories, more than any other pilot.

Frank Luke Jr. (May 19, 1897--September 29, 1918) was an American fighter ace, ranking second among U.S. Army Air Service pilots to Captain Eddie Rickenbacker in number of aerial victories during World War I (Rickenbacker was credited with 26 aerial victories, while Luke's official score was 18). Frank Luke was the first airman to receive the Medal of Honor. Luke Air Force Base, a U.S. Air Force pilot training installation since World War II, is named in his honor.
