Introducing...Powder7's top picks for big-mountain skis in 2022. These skis are your mid-fat options, between 100mm and 112mm underfoot. They're also referred to as "all-mountain wide," "freeride," and "mid-fat" skis. Whatever you call 'em, they are some of our favorites across the whole industry. Many of our staffers choose skis in this category for their every day skiing.
First up: the Icelantic Saba Pro 107. This is a narrower version of the Saba Pro 117, which debuted last year as the result of collaboration between Icey's pro athletes. It's fully rockered, 107mm underfoot, and a downright blast. Very unique feeling ski that pivots and surfs as you'd expect but also carves better than you may think for a ski with no camber.
Next, the DPS Pagoda 106 C2. This year, the Pagoda construction replaces Alchemist. It comes in slightly lighter, slightly more stable, and also more sustainable. The Pagoda 106 C2 is built on the more directional of DPS chassis (C2 rather than RP), and it's a super-smooth skiing ski for aggressive skiers who like to attack the fall line.
Third, we've got the Nordica Enforcer 104 Free. Year-in and year-out, this is a favorite and bestseller across the industry. It's got more freeride flavor than the famed Enforcer 100, thanks to extra tail rocker, lighter tips, and a lightweight wood in the core. It still packs a punch, though, with two sheets of metal, and we're hard-pressed to think of a ski day it's not well-suited for.
And lastly: the Salomon QST Blank. Salomon introduced this new ski without a waist width in the name to make a point. It skis everything well. At 112mm underfoot, the Blank smears and slashes through pow, yet it's also nimble enough for all-mountain applications in mixed snow conditions. There's been a ton of press behind the Blank, and we're happy to add to the noise.
As usual, you can find all these skis and many, many more at powder7.com or at our World HQ in Golden, Colorado!
