What isBaader-MeinhofEffect?This is a fun one. It’s also called the frequency illusion. This phenomenon occurs when something you've just talked about or maybe experienced suddenly crops up constantly everywhere you turn. you suddenly get the feeling that out of nowhere, pretty much the world and its mother are talking about the very thing you've just experienced yourself. But the thing is, of course, it seems to be everywhere because you're noticing it more. Believe it or not, you'll probably now notice more people talking about Baader-Meinhof after watching this video.A few things happen when the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon kicks in. first, your brain is excited by the fact that you've learned something new, and so selective attention occurs. Selective attention is when your brain subconsciously thinks, "wow, that's brilliant! I'm going to look for that without actually thinking about it." So now that you're looking for it, you find it. To then really drive it home, confirmation bias occurs after seeing it even once. In other words, you start agreeing with yourself that you're definitely seeing it more. And here's the thing, you actually are, simply because you're now looking for it subconsciously.
