HMS Queen Elizabeth: New British aircraft carrier—the Royal Navy’s largest ever warship—in training action as she completes F-35 ‘First of Class Flight Trials’ (North Atlantic Ocean, November 2018).
US and UK team members from the F-35 Pax River Integrated Test Force recently carried out First of Class Flight Trials from the flight deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth—this was a very significant occasion because, among other things, it marks the return of fixed-wing maritime aircraft to the UK.
(The F-35B Lightning II short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant is, of course, the world’s first supersonic STOVL stealth aircraft.)
