Elizabeth I is famously known as the Virgin Queen, the Gloriana who saw England through war and then a golden peace. But she's also known as a cruel woman, severely punishing those who went against her word, lashing out in anger towards the end of her life. But Elizabeth didn't start out this way, so what turned her into this woman? This video looks at some of the possible explanations for why Elizabeth I behaved as she did, showing that underneath it all, she was just a woman in a precarious position, alone.
