All about this Session:
Introduction (00:00)
Ukti Vora, an optometrist, and a podcaster begins by explaining the current eyecare practices under one roof. We learn about how we can incorporate telemedicine. It’s going to be a hybrid healthcare delivery system going forward. Telemedicine can be divided into synchronous (live video conferencing) and asynchronous (store and forward) styles. Ukti points out that most practitioners have practiced asynchronous and synchronous forms of telemedicine at some point or the other.
There are two types of health care delivery systems
1. Physicians centric care (11:50)
2. Patient-centric care (12:45)
When we look into how to best implement telemedicine in our practice, we are trying to deliver our physician-centric approach to a patient-centric approach. We go through each step required to transition to telemedicine
1. Patient History/Intake form (15:40)
2. Preliminary test (18:25)
3. Pre-screening test (21:32)
4. Visual Acuity virtually (27:15)
5. Advanced testing (29:50)
6. Dispensing with virtual try-on(31:43)
a. Measuring pupillary distance (34:30)
b. Segment Height (36:05)
7. Other specialties
a. Myopia screening (37:25)
b. Contact lenses (38:45)
c. Binocular vision screening (39:55)
Towards the end of the talk, we understand the advantages and limitations of implementing telemedicine in our practices. Ukti concludes with some important takeaways from the session. We conclude the session with some very interesting questions from the live audience.
