This looks like a playground for the upcoming life-support systems. NOVA doesn't have artificial gravity, but has atmospheric pressure. Yet unless it's a bug the amount of oxygen seems limited. If there were buggy depressurized areas, the character would suffocate almost instantly (like it was with other vehicles), but so far everything indicates that it's a gradual process, so it could be an intentional change.
