Is Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Bezel Touch Sensitive? Or is it accurate?
When I was browsing through the Amazon reviews of the newly released galaxy watch, I noticed there are some quite informatic reviews of how the watch looks and performs.
Even more interestingly, there is a fight going on here:
The question is: is the virtual bezel touch sensitive. The bezel lets you choose different tabs through moving your fingers along it.
One reviewer said the bezel IS touch sensitive. What's more, he said The main reason for my review is to counter the review stating the touch bezel isn't touch sensitive. Nonsense! In fact, it is more touch sensitive and smoother operating than my Galaxy Active 2. 65 people found this helpful.
The other reviewer user S, however countered that the bezel is not touch-sensitive. See what he said. With the current firmware, the Galaxy Watch 4's bezel is absolutely not touch-sensitive. Unless you brush up against the actual screen area with your finger, it does nothing. This is a big step back from the Galaxy Watch Active 2, a watch that I liked.
Edit: I see someone created a review explicitly to counter my claim about the bezel. Well, my video demonstration //(I saw his video on Youtube as well: [ Ссылка ])// doesn't lie. It is not touch-sensitive and it makes the experience unreliable unless you adapt to it. I had this watch side-by-side with my Active 2, and the Active 2 hands down had a more reliable bezel. 47 people found this helpful.
I am sure if this is a Reddit forum, it will heat up much more intense.
I am a Watch 4 owner but I don't have an Galaxy Watch Active 2 so I could not compare. For me I did find it difficult to use when I first got the watch, as seen in my other video.
Sensitivity is a subjective term. For me it means is it easy for the watch to sense that you are touching it. Is it touch sensitive? My answer is yes. But the bigger question is actually how accurate it is, meaning that if I want it to move 1 tab, will it move just one tab; if I want it to stop, does it stop?
Obviously I don't think the original release of the watch meets this promise. Samsung actually released a firmware update around september 9th. If you haven't seen it, you should see it in a few days. This update mentions the complaints users have on the virtual touch bezel and improvement of the usability of it. I love this word usability. So I think user S did have a valid point.
Here what it feels like now: definitely gets better.
In short: I was sad on there were quite some flaws on this watch, it is far from perfect, and there are many more things that can be done, especially for non-samsung or Huawei phones!! But I am glad they listen to users at least get this mostly fixed, which I think is essential to earn user loyatly.
Updates: I heard some people think the updates are still not good enough. Hopefully Samsung can make it completely right soon.
