South Africa has been mercilessly battered by storm surges and flash floods. Along the coastal areas, damaging winds and waves were expected, along with strong surge warnings. The Leeu, Lotus, and AER Rivers in Cape Town overflowed their banks, causing major flooding on several roads throughout the city.
