STORYLINE:
A new dean has been appointed to Baghdad's police academy as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise order in the Iraqi capital.
US army officials said several candidates had been interviewed.
The final decision was made Bernard Kerik, a former New York City police chief brought in to help with security in the Iraqi capital.
