WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WKRC) -- Police are investigating after human remains were found in West Chester. Kids in a secluded area near Tylersville and Cincinnati-Dayton Roads said they found a human skull in the afternoon of Saturday, March 7. A second bone was then found in the area. For much of Monday afternoon, West Chester police and Butler County coroner investigators searched the wooded area for evidence. Pink flags marked what was found and by mid-afternoon, those investigators emerged from the woods with bags of what they had found. The area was just below Gregory Creek Lane where Liza Wilhelm lives. She said she returned home Saturday afternoon to have her 14-year-old son tell her some disturbing news.Wilhelm said her son told her, Mom we found something, we found a skull and we think its human, she recalled.Wilhelm said the teen along with two of her other sons had been playing in the woods, as they often do, when the 14-year-old tripped over what he thought was a rock. He brushed away the snow to find the skull.Agnabel Jimenez lives next door to the Wilhelms on Gregory Creek Lane. The nurse and her husband, who is a doctor, were shown the skull and expressed no doubt the remains were those of a human.Neighbors said the area was a popular dumping ground for garbage. The fact that human remains were found there was even more disturbing. Wilhelm hopes they can be identified to help bring someones family-closure.Anyone with information is asked to call West Chester Police at 777-2231.
