The big story of the day is the AGR verdict pronounced today by the Supreme Court. Telecom companies have got 10 years to clear their dues in a staggered manner but 10% of it needs to be paid by March 31 next year.
The chairmen of the telecom companies will have to give undertakings for payments. But if the companies fail to make their installments then that will incur interest, penalty and contempt of court. This has been a long drawn court battle of over 16 years.
The debt burden also raised a question mark on Vodafone Idea's survival and threatened to make India's telecom sector a 2-player market. But Vodafone's counsel told ET NOW that they will survive. So what does this verdict mean for the case?
