This video ranks the most successful German U-Boats (Yes, the actual boats) during World War II(WWII).
We rank these U-Boat by the total accumulated tonnage (Gross Registered Ton) of the ships they have sunk.
If you are in a rush, please go straight to the section on the top-ranked U-boat (starting at 3:35), which you might enjoy and would like to offer us your comments.
U-Boats' successes were controversial since they often attacked civilian ships, especially those civilian shippings commandeered and organized by the Allied navies into convoys that shipped weapons and goods against Germany.
Interestingly, we do find some boats to be luckier than others.
Take the top-ranked U-Boats, three of the five captains that command it became famous U-Boat aces.
These twelve U-boats also had a much lower destruction rate (33%) than the destruction rate (67%) of all U-Boats.
Although the German Navy scuttled all remaining and surviving U-boats just before Germany surrendered in 1945, it does not take away the controversial success won by these machines.
This phenomenon may have reflected the quality of the crew, which operated these U-Boat.
They did not always change with different captains.
