(4 Nov 2015) A BITTERSWEET END FOR 'THE HUNGER GAMES'
A 'Hunger Games' frenzy gripped Berlin Wednesday (4 NOV. 2015) as the final instalment of the franchise had its world premiere in Germany.
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth were joined by director Francis Lawrence, Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Banks, Sam Claflin and more to celebrate "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2."
The fans were out in full force, lining the streets of central Berlin, and Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson were impressed:
"It is always a surprise and always overwhelming, it is really truly incredible the fan support," said Lawrence.
"It feels kind of surreal, this is the final one. We have been talking about it a lot lately and it is strange that it is actually here. The German fans are incredible. They come out in the cold and they wait for us. It means a lot to us when we come out to these events and we have such support like this," added Hutcherson.
Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gail in the franchise, joined in the feeling of nostalgia and talked about what he will miss from filming:
"I think I'll just miss being able to spend 12 hours a day with Jen and Josh, they are my best friends and we had so much fun making these films and it is a happy goodbye," he said.
In the final instalment of the franchise, Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) steps up the tempo and heads the rebellion against the Capitol. She is spurred on again by a desire to protect her sister, played by Willow Shields. The young actress shared what it was like to work so closely with Lawrence:
"It is amazing, I have learned a lot about acting in general from just watching her. It is hard for actors to verbally say how to do things because it is almost impossible, but from just watching her I have learned so much, as well as just seeing how she has navigated her way through Hollywood is something that I really look up to," she said.
Director Francis Lawrence also speculated what he thought makes Lawrence such a talented actress:
"I think that she is just always surprising, she is really talented, she is really smart, she is really fun. She says what is on her mind so you never know what is going to happen, and I think that is exciting, mystery is good," he laughed.
Fitting that the world premiere took place in Berlin as a lot of the scenes were shot in and around the city, the director joked that he planned on having a good time celebrating the premiere of the movie:
"Yes I just have to make sure that it doesn't get dangerous. We've got to keep it reigned in, we have to still work. It is easy to go out and not come home for 3 days," he joked.
