Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 6:50 am forecast. Good morning and happy Tuesday. Today will be a bit similar to yesterday. Skies will be mostly sunny and then becoming partly cloudy. Isolated showers and t-storms this afternoon, but most of our area will likely stay dry. A weak front moved through our area and is still stationed along the coast. That’s the area with a better chance for receiving a few showers today until the frontal boundary erodes. Some drier air brought in by NE winds behind the frontal boundary will help lower the humidity slightly. Today will still be hot, but a little less humid than yesterday. Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly dry and highs will be in the low and mid 90s. As high pressure builds in later this week, that will help to keep things drier. With high pressure building in again, that will contribute not only to drier weather, but rising temps as well. High temps will be pretty close to 100 degrees on Friday and Saturday. While we’re looking at a very hot (and possibly dry) first half of the weekend, we may see lower temps and rain on Sunday and Monday. Tracking the Tropics: No tropical development is expected within the next few days, but we are still monitoring the Gulf for possible tropical development. Throughout this week, tropical moisture is expected to move through the eastern Gulf and bring plenty of rain to the Florida peninsula. They’ve been dealing with drought conditions so this will be beneficial to them. Some tropical moisture could move north towards the Gulf Coast in a few days. That will bring showers (likely heavy rainfall) to our area on Father's Day and Monday. There’s still some uncertainty with this, but even if this does not develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm, this plume of moisture is expected to move towards us and bring showers/heavy showers. Estimated rainfall totals over the next 7 days are now a little higher than what I showed on air yesterday. Yesterday, we were seeing about 0.5” - 1” over the next 7 days for our area. Now rainfall estimates are around 1.75” - 3”. Again, depending on how this plays out, we might have heavy rain on Father’s Day and early next week or we might end up staying drier. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks for watching. Have a terrific Tuesday!
