At least 940,000 children in Kenya are acutely malnourished with a 31% rise in the number of food insecure persons in the country between March and May.
To say Kenya’s facing a food supply crisis would be a huge understatement. Maize prices have soared by between 30% to 125% over the five-year average. An estimated 2.4 million livestock had died by the end of May. To assess the maize and wheat supply situation in Kenya and East Africa, CGTN’s Ramah Nyang spoke to Gerald Masila, Executive Director at the East African Grain Council (EAGC).
