A guided tour of the Château de Chantilly, which belonged to the Ducs de Condé, and later was inherited, and substantially rebuilt, by the Duc d'Aumale, son of French King Louis–Philippe.
It is located in the "département" of Oise, north–east of Paris, France.
The Duc d'Aumale was an enthusiast art lover and collector. He gathered at Chantilly a spectacular library, including "Les Très Riches Heures" of the Duc de Berry, illuminated by the incomparable Limburg brothers.
The Chantilly collection of paintings was at the time one of the best private ones in Europe.
The entire property was bequeathed to the French Academy (more precisely, to the "Institut de France"), and it is now called "Condé Museum".
The château was used as villain Max Zorin's spectacular residence in the James Bond film "A View to a Kill" (1985), starring Roger Moore.
The château and its collections, as well as the truly beautiful grounds (a very popular picnic venue), are open to the public (Covid restrictions may apply).
