My journey to Song Kul started in the capital of Bishkek. From there I took my first ever mashrutka (local minibus) along some fairly crusty roads through the beautiful countryside to the village of Kyzart in Central Kyrgyzstan. Once there I met some awesome locals and found a way to get to the starting point of the trek. Stay tuned for pt. 2 to see my ascent of Tuz-Ashoo pass and my experience at my first Kyrgyz yurt camp.
