I was already a Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI-Spanish) through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) but I recently passed my oral examination through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) meaning I'm now also a Certified Healthcare Interpreter™ (CHI-Spanish) as well!
I've had lots of folks asking me why I did it, so I made this video to discuss how COVID-19 has impacted not only me as an individual interpreter, but how it has impacted the language services industry as a whole, and how that has really pushed me to raise the bar by becoming dual-certified. I also discuss my experiences as a medical interpreter trainer and how my social anxiety played into my test-taking experience.
