Rava fry is a popular method of frying fish in the coastal region (Mangalore, Udupi, Karkala) region of Karnataka. One of the best side dishes or finger food loved by seafood lovers. Some popularly fried fish are bangude, surmai, anjal, pomfret, bolangir or silver fish, koddai, etc.
The same method is followed to make rava fry for vegetarians, and instead of fish, cauliflower (gobi), raw banana (kele), raw jackfruit(kadgi), ripe banana (plantains), breadfruit (jeev kadgi), eggplant (aubergine) can be used.
Just follow the steps and vary the spiciness as desired. Raw jackfruit is also the best substitute for meat, and is also called vegan meat or vegan chicken. This dish is also called kadgi podi or gujje podi in konkani.
