Why did sea freight rates surge again in May?
During this low season, sea freight rates have increased. There are three factors contributing to the rise in sea freight rates.
1、 Due to the impact of the crisis in the Red Sea caused by the Houthi rebels, European routes have had to divert through Africa.
2、 In January of this year, Brazil imposed additional tariffs on Chinese new energy vehicles, indirectly leading to price hikes in South America.
3、During the U.S. presidential election, there were announcements of imposing 50-60% tariffs on China, prompting many importers to stock up in advance.
