Hi, I’m Sian-Amy and I’ll be telling you the 8 things you need to know about the Thistle.
It’s 5 minutes from T5 on the POD shuttles. The entrance to the POD station is behind the hotel, about a 5-minute walk away on a flat path.
Or, taxis to T5 cost around £15.
If you’re flying from T2, T3 or T4, take the POD to T5, then catch the free Heathrow Express train to your terminal.
This package includes parking at the hotel for the whole of your trip. The car park has CCTV and barriers.
Guests say the spaces are a bit tight, so we’d suggest dropping off your luggage and passengers at reception before you park.
There are accessible spaces and they’re closest to the hotel entrance.
Rooms and en suite bathrooms are simple and compact, and guests say they’re practical for an overnight stay.
Now the hotel doesn't have a lift, but we found that the porters were happy to help with our luggage when we visited in Spring 2016.
Although there are no designated accessible rooms, you can request a standard room on the ground floor which is accessible by a ramp.
Wifi is free and it’s suitable for browsing the internet and checking your emails.
The hotel’s restaurant is upstairs and overlooks the runway. The simple menu offers meals like build-your-own burgers, fish & chips and curries.
Guests say the menu is limited but the food comes out really quickly. A main will cost around £15.
Breakfast is included in the price of this package. It’s a good selection of English and continental food, and you can eat as much as you like.
The bar also overlooks the runway, and has a simple stock of drinks. A pint of beer will cost around £4.
And in the lobby there’s a coffee shop and a 24-hour Grab & Go serving sandwiches, salads and juices.
