Hello, my friends! If you want to like, comment, share or subscribe I'll be very happy!
My dearest friends! First of all I want to wish all of you and your loved ones a lot of health and serenity for the Holiday Season with all my heart!
Finally I'm back to post a new video which I hope you will like!
This time I take you with me to my Region, Lombardy, to visit a truly unique and particular place, the Sacro Monte di Varese, which belongs to the group of the 9 Sacred Mountains of Lombardy and Piedmont, UNESCO World Heritage sites since 2003.
The Sacro Monte is a 2 km (1.243 mi) devotional path along which there are 14 Chapels equidistant from each other, dedicated to the life of Jesus and the Mysteries of Faith, a pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages.
The path winds uphill until it reaches the small village of Santa Maria del Monte, where the homonymous Sanctuary is located, considered the 15th Chapel.
The construction of the Chapels, built in Baroque style, began in 1604 and finished in 1623 and was attended by some of the greatest Lombard artists of the time, so much so that this path, also scattered with arches, doors, fountains and frescoes, represents an excellent testimony of medieval sacred art and visually an incredible monumental work.
The Chapels, like the Mysteries of the Rosary, are divided into groups of five, separated from each other by triumphal arches and several fountains to allow pilgrims some refreshment during the ascent.
The interior of every single chapel isembellished with statues and frescoes that I could not take back, as the entrance was closed due to the covid. Such a pity.
I wrote the name of each Mystery represented in the Chapels to allow you to immerse yourself in this sacred path in the best possible way.
The Sacro Monte di Varese winds on the slopes of Monte Orona and is immersed in the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park, a protected naturalistic area from which you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of the Varese Pre-Alps.
Arriving at the end of the sacred path you will find the delightful village of Santa Maria del Monte, all tight around the splendid Sanctuary and the Monastery, made up of narrow alleys, arcades from which a splendid view of the surrounding landscape emerges here and there. admire in all its beauty from the terrace where the Sanctuary is located.
I then wanted to continue the climb beyond the village along two paths that lead to as many amazing observation points from which the eye sweeps up to Switzerland and beyond to the Alps, passing through the view of some of the lakes of this truly extraordinary landscape area.
I wrote you in detail in the video everything that could be admired from those wonderful balconies just to make you partakers of this incredible view that really filled my eyes and heart.
As always, I want to thank you for the friendship and affection you always show me through your comments. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart!
I also want to thank the many of you who have already visited the @Bonnie Nadine Newman's channel. collaborating with her, through the drafting of Italian texts taken from my poems together with the wonderful music of Maestro Kjell Karlsson.
