Join us for the winners announcement for the 2023 Observer/Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism.
We asked your best reviews of newly-released works in the arts. The prize is in its tenth year, but this is the first time we ever produced a longlist. The quantity and quality was that good. In this video, we show the longlist, the shortlist - and reveal the all-important runners-up and winner. The first prize is £3,000 and the winning piece will be published in the print edition of the Observer New Review and online at theguardian.com. The two runners-up will also receive £500 each and have their work published online.
We extend a huge thanks to everyone for entering. We must also thank our judges: Fiona Maddocks and Sarah Donaldson from the Observer newspaper, and Andrew Biswell from the Burgess Foundation,
The winner will also be announced on 21 February 2023 with a live event in London, to which the shortlistees will be invited, running alongside this simultaneous online announcement broadcast from the Anthony Burgess typewriters exhibition in Manchester.
