Dave MasonTrack 1 from his second solo album released in 1974 copyright RSO Records. After the release of his debut solo album in 1970, Clapton became addicted to heroin for three years and did pretty much nothing. Rehab clinics weren't as popular forty-six years ago as they are today, so he rehabilitated himself by working as a farmhand and was successful. This album was recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami with Tom Dowd as producer, and was released on his manager Robert Stigwood’s new label, RSO Records. Clapton’s cover of “I Shot the Sheriff” written by Bob Marley became his only No. 1 hit on the Billboard chart and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003. The album reached No. 1 in the U.S. & Canada and made the Top Ten in eight other countries. It achieved Gold status within a month. Motherless children have a hard time when Mother is dead, Lord
Motherless children have a hard time when Mother is dead, Lord
They don't have anywhere to go, wanderin' around from door to door
Nobody treats you like a mother will when your Mother is dead, Lord
Father will do the best he can when your Mother is dead, Lord
Father will do the best he can when your Mother is dead, Lord
Father will do the best he can, so many things a father can't understand
Nobody treats you like a mother will when your Mother is dead, Lord
Sister will do the best she can when your Mother is dead, Lord
Sister will do the best she can when your Mother is dead, Lord
Sister will do the best she can, so many things a sister can't understand
Nobody treats you like a mother will when your Mother is dead
When your Mother is dead, when your Mother is dead
When your Mother is dead, Lord, when your Mother is dead
When your Mother is dead, when your Mother is dead
When your Mother is dead, when your Mother is dead
When your Mother is dead, Lord, when your Mother is dead
