Can a country’s temperature make it poor? It may sound incredible, but when we look at the data of where the wealthiest countries are located and those that have underdeveloped economies, one thing becomes very clear: almost every country that has a high GDP per capita is in the colder regions of the world. Conversely, nations with lower GDP per capita are typically found in the much hotter tropics regions. So why does it appear that the warmer countries are struggling to keep up? Does the cold really help an economy, or is there something else going on?
