Since the week of the invasion, the Parliament has also restricted the use of its press facilities for journalists from Russia Today and Sputnik. The European Parliament on Friday announced a ban on access to its buildings for Russian and Belarusian diplomatic and government staff following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine just over three weeks ago.

"From today, Russian and Belarusian diplomatic and government staff are banned from entering the premises of the European Parliament. There is no place in the house of democracy for those who want to destroy the democratic order," European Parliament President Roberta Metsola wrote on Twitter.
The announcement comes a day after the Parliament gave one of its buildings to a Ukrainian civil society organisation, Promote Ukraine, to coordinate its activities in Belgium and provide administrative and psychological support to refugees fleeing the war and arriving in the Belgian capital.
Since the week of the invasion, the Parliament has also restricted the use of its press facilities for journalists from Russia Today and Sputnik, whose broadcasts have been suspended at European level as they are considered to be under the permanent control of the Russian authorities and "essential" to support and justify the military aggression against Ukraine.
