Bach Stradivarius SN# 82323 25/72* ML W/Balanced Besson System
The Balanced Besson System is a modification by George Famera where he flips the third valve slide, puts a student-model tuning crook on, uses Besson braces, takes off the neoprene valve stops replacing them with the stop-pads in the caps with the fluted stops. But the main thing he does/did (if he's still alive & working in horns) is play the horn while either shaving off or adding metal to the three valve crooks until all the notes ring on the horn. Then he had Bach's original engraving guy (who was like 100 yrs old) do all the engraving. This guy is a real character. He was a contemporary of & played with Bernie Glow. A few years back Selmer wanted to copy his "Addenda" trumpet for their new Strad line, but the guy was/is such an curmudgeon that they couldn't work with him. Anyway...He would be in his mid eighties now if he's alive. George was very "Old School". He demanded of the platers that they leave the horn in the plating bath for 45 min, so the plating is very thick on this horn. The lead pipe on this horn has a lot of tiny pits....from some kind of work George had to do to it. The result is a very fine playing Bach 72 lightweight(*)
