One light for main, cards for fill, and a hair light. Classic beauty is what I think of when I see makeup, hair, and cosmetic ads. Models and actors headshots may fit into that category as well. Keeping the light on axis of the camera helps fill in lines and wrinkles that can be tedious to touch out.
WHAT YOU NEED:
One main light (softbox, octa, umbrella, BD) and one hair light (same assortment), three white cards 2x3 approx, one shiny reflector (optional), stands for the cards and clamps to hold them in place. A very simple kit.
