The power of the words of the Hanuman Chalisa has been prevalent since time immemorial. Creating the picture of an ideal devotee, the Hanuman Chalisa casts Shri Hanuman as the ideal embodiment of a dedicated devotee. It preaches an eternal feel of love and sacrifice, holding the God in your heart at all times. History says that whoever chants the Chalisa in undying devotion to Shri Hanuman will acquire his grace and strength. The string of verses in the chant tell the story of devotion and submission of Shri Hanuman to Lord Ram. He believed in a very strong form of worship that lied in serving the Lord. All his acts of such devotion are immortalised in the Chalisa, “Chalisa” meaning forty.
In Trinidad and Tobago, music is a huge part of our culture. This project features ‘unheard’ female voices of these twin islands. What started as a simple idea quickly transformed into a full fledged production thanks to the talent of 3 Stripes Productions, Naresh Moonian, Chryston Floyd and Federation Records.
Today marks the beginning of a musical journey with the first step being devotion. Together, we celebrate Lata Mangeshkar’s 91st birthday and we pay tribute to her with our version of the Hanuman Chalisa.
I would like to thank everyone who invested their time, talent and expertise; Karishma Dhowtal, Neera Harripersad, Reehanna Gopaul, Satrupa Sesnarayan, Sita Sonnylal, Victoria Maharaj, Chryston Floyd, Naresh Moonian, Adesh Sahadeo, Veeran Sookoo and my entire family.
May God bless everyone that contributed to this project. I love you all. Listen, share & enjoy. This is amazing work supported by pure devotion.
Love Always, Roshan (Federation Records)
