Kowloon Walled City was a densely populated and unregulated urban enclave located in Hong Kong. Originally a military fortress, it became a haven for refugees and criminals in the 20th century. By the 1980s, it had become infamous for its lawlessness and squalid living conditions, with over 50,000 residents crammed into its 6.5-acre area. The city was finally demolished in 1993, and the site was transformed into a park. Despite its controversial past, Kowloon Walled City remains a fascinating case study in urban planning and social history.
