It's no secret that a lot of people forget about the melodies that are already present in the chords themselves. In other words your chord melody. But when you are dealing with chords and a chord progression, then which notes are your melodic notes?

In this video I will show you probably the most forgotten technique when it comes to writing melodic chord progressions. To give you a hint: when you play a progression, which notes catch your ear? Is it the middle notes or does your ear go to the top and bass voices?

Luckily this video is not too heavy on the music theory side, I just show you the power of voice leading of the top notes. And I hope that this video will inspire you and that you can add these songwriting tips to your songwriting/composition toolbox.
