At its core, Edge Computing is about the distribution of computational power and data storage wherever they are needed. In a developer perspective, the whole point is to bring cloud native tools and techniques outside of the data center. Naturally, this includes Kubernetes. But is Kubernetes really needed on the Edge? Many of the open source and commercial edge platforms available right now orchestrate applications and services in their own way. Others, on the other hand, integrate with Kubernetes. Which one is the right approach?
