A government bill that overhauls Canadian broadcasting laws to regulate streaming services passed in the Senate and received royal assent Thursday. The legislation requires streaming services like Netflix and Spotify to pay to support Canadian content including music and TV shows. Matt Hatfield, campaigns director with digital rights watchdog Open Media, discusses his concerns with the bill.
