Parish councillor Bernard Conway disappears during an ongoing dispute with his neighbour, farmer Ted Halliwell, leading Nick to investigate, where he learns that the two men were arguing over the relationship between Conway's daughter and Halliwell's son.

Eileen offers to help raise money for charity for a local woman, but is surprised when they refuse to inform the police that it has recently disappeared. Ventress fears for his future when he thinks he saw a UFO during a stormy night.
