This type of exam is usually ordered for patient's that experience cold hands or feet or cold sensitivity (pain with exposure to cold temperatures) or discoloration of the fingers and/or toes. A baseline exam will be performed by placing blood pressure cuffs on the arms and the fingers to rule out a fixed obstruction to the blood flow. Then we may place your hands or feet in cool water (50 degrees) for 3 minutes and test them immediately afterward to observe how they react to the cold temperature.
Preparation for Exam:
It is requested that nail polish be removed prior to having this test performed.
