In an interview today with veteran Guyanese broadcaster Bobby Vieira, Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Aubrey Norton says he is prepared to have a consensus presidential candidate if that persons comes from the PNCR.
"When I say I'm open to a consensual candidate, if perchance we have to choose a candidate from the PNC, I have no problem with us having a consensual candidate. For instance, somebody like Carl Grenidge, if we think he is good to run and win, we have no problem with him as a consensual candidate."
The PNCR Leader stated, "I believe that as the largest political party, in the coalition, the PNCR is entitled, which political party will have more than 90 percent of the support of the opposition would give its power for the want of a better word to 5 or 10%. It makes no sense. So when I speak of a consensual candidate, I'm speaking of a consensual candidate as it relates to the People's National Congress Reform."
The recently reelected Leader said, "I don't see us as a political party given to a party that has not ever in this country gotten 15% of the votes, the presidential candidate. What are we saying to our supporters, that we are supporting you for you to bring somebody else and give them leadership?"
