Amid ongoing protests in Iran, anger is intensifying following the death of another young woman. Schoolgirls have been protesting for weeks since the the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who died in police custody after being detained for not wearing her headscarf properly. 16-year-old Nika Shahkarami was set to join the protests for Mahsa but went missing on her way. She was found dead ten days later.
Footage from Iran shows schoolgirls removing their hijabs, cutting their hair, raising their middle fingers, and shouting “death to the dictator.” And people from all across the world are joining in acts of solidarity.
