For centuries, the wise men have been portrayed visiting the Christchild at the stable and manger shortly after His birth. However, according to Matthew 2:1-11, the wise men have been searching for Jesus since the time the star appeared and eventually found Him about two years later (see Matthew 2:16). This would explain why the wise men found Jesus as a "young child" and in a "house."
