Beef Pares is a well-known Filipino dish which is essentially a combo of beef stew, garlic rice, and soup. Inspired by Chinese style stews using star anise, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. And in this video, Paps Carl of The Chui Show brought me to one of the famous Paresans in Manila called, Jim's Pares. An institution in Malate known for using woodfire as their method of cooking the stew continuously for 24hrs. Here's what we had:
