2025 Toyota Prius - The Ultimate Hybrid Revolution!
The Toyota Prius is a global icon. Although it looked odd, celebrities immediately adopted the world's first mass-produced hybrid car in late 1997 to promote cleaner living.
Since 1997, the automobile world has changed, and several cleaner vehicles have eclipsed the Prius in popularity. It remains one of the most reliable cars of its kind.
That solid part also means the Prius has had few recalls over the years, despite Toyota's reputation for reliability. The model stars in its own recall this week.
Japan's hybrid recall targeted new 2023 and 2024 models. The Prius and Prius HEV (Prius Prime) are affected, totaling 211,000 vehicles.
Toyota sold all these cars throughout Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia, thus they may all have a sudden rear door opening syndrome.
The automaker gave us some hints concerning the situation. The cars appear to be leaking, allowing water to short-circuit the electrical rear door locks.
If it happens, the doors won't be locked, which could happen during crashes or while driving. It could raise the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
Toyota will replace the left and right rear door openers with an updated one to solve the issue. As usual, owners will receive free repairs.
Before receiving mail notifications, Toyota advises users "to ensure that the feature that automatically locks the doors when shifting from Park is activated." Toyota claims that 55,000 Priuses from the impacted batches are in the U.S. and Canada, so this advise is very relevant.
The Toyota Prius comes in hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in North America. The basic Prius costs $27,450, while the Prius Prime costs $32,975.
