The Power is founded on 7 Principles. #3: Hate is a life or death issue. #7: The measure of our movement is the impact it has on LGBT youth. Last Saturday night, an unknown assailant opened fire on a meeting of a gay and lesbian youth group in Tel Aviv, killing three people and injuring fifteen. On Wednesday, August 6th, New York responded with a vigil of remembrance. JSpeakers included Rep. Jerrold Nadler, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Nehirim director Jay Michaelson, Yoav Sivan, former member of the Board of Agudah, the LGBT Association of Tel Aviv, David Saranga on behalf of the Israeli Consulate General in New York, Carl Siciliano of the Ali Forney Center and John Ruskay, evp and CEO of the UJA-Federation of New York.
