Four PSAs from the 1970s from the US Forest Service, featuring their famous Smokey the Bear mascot in all his terrifyingly uncanny glory.
Simply due to personal taste, I decided to upscale these four because of how particularly creepy I find them – and of course, I had to scale the old classic "If You Knew It Was Me" in 4K, which apparently scarred a whole generation of young children when it first aired. I don't really blame them: Smokey taking off the flesh from one of his victims (namely Joanna Cassidy) that he disguised himself as just to get our attention is anything but cute and cuddly. They actually aired a second variant of that after it scared so many children, this time with a slightly different ending featuring a more podgy, friendly, and approachable Smokey, and one that favored a more subtle ending and less of an "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again" one. They even added a little chuckle at the end, as though children previously watching Smokey skin Cassidy and wear her skin for shits and giggles would just magically erase itself from every child's memory.
Chuckle all you want, Smokey, but you're still a scary bastard.
