The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a supersonic, multirole fighter aircraft produced by Saab in Sweden. The JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet was co-developed by Saab Military Aircraft, Ericsson Microwave Systems, Volvo Aero Corporation, and Celsius Aerotech. This multirole fighter aircraft belongs to the fourth generation. The JAS 39 Gripen includes new capabilities in software-controlled avionics systems, modern materials, improved aerodynamic design, and fully integrated engine systems, resulting in a fighter aircraft with true multirole capability.
The JAS 39 Gripen is the first Swedish manufacturing aircraft capable of interception, ground assault, and reconnaissance. Gripen International, a joint company between Saab and BAE Systems, is responsible for the sale of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen. The Swedish, Czech, and Hungarian air forces have utilized this aircraft, and South Africa and Thailand have placed orders for it.
