Joseph Stalin, the infamous dictator and mass killer, had a lesser-known past as a bank robber and gang leader. Initially named Koba, he learned to manage a gang, amass funds, and display ruthless determination. Surprisingly, his pursuit of money aligned with his Communist beliefs, as stolen funds were used to support future revolution and fund a newspaper he established. Despite keeping a distance from direct involvement in criminal activities, he orchestrated significant heists, including a notorious bank robbery in Tiflis. This robbery, with a death toll of forty and widespread attention, furthered his ascent within the Bolshevik ranks. While these criminal exploits may seem incongruous with his later role as a dictator, they laid the foundation for the iron-fisted rule and brutality associated with Stalin.
